Arsenal are preparing a formal offer of €20m for Valencia defender Cristhian Mosquera, but he would prefer to sign a new deal at Valencia.
That’s according to journalist German Munoz, [speaking to El Chiringuito](https://x.com/elchiringuitotv/status/1938539132331930088), who reports that Arsenal may need to do a little more work convincing the 20-year-old.
Reports in England yesterday made it clear that Arsenal were pushing to sign the centre-back, who Valencia need to sell this summer to avoid losing on a free next year. His current deal expires in 2026.
They were followed by [claims from Spain this morning](http://sportwitness.co.uk/player-has-reached-an-agreement-to-sign-for-arsenal-performs-u-turn-on-future/) that Arsenal had already reached an agreement on personal terms with Arsenal.
The belief was that Mosquera had made a U-turn on his future, electing to avoid signing a new deal at Valencia and instead head to the Premier League with Arsenal this summer.
Munoz disputes that, though, and insists that Mosquera still has signing a new deal with the Spanish club as his priority.
_“Arsenal is going to make a formal offer,”_ he said.
_“An initial formal offer of around €20m euros for Cristian Mosquera to Valencia Club de Fútbol. I’m told that even so, Cristian Mosquera is still prioritising renewing with Valencia and wants to wait for Valencia Club de Fútbol. He’s been waiting since the end of the La Liga season._
_“He still wants to hear the project that Valencia Club de Fútbol is going to offer him but it’s true that the project Arsenal is offering, which they’re already trying to convince the player, convinces and motivates him, and Valencia must make a move._
_“Mosquera continues to prioritise that renewal because he wants to play for Valencia, but with a series of conditions. There are two conditions in this case, one is his personal financial project, and the other is his sporting project.”_
With Valencia yet to make an offer, though, Arsenal are pushing and going all out to secure his signature. That, according to Munoz, is because there is competition from around Europe.
_“Valencia, as I said, hasn’t presented a renewal offer yet, and the player, although he wants to stay, isn’t going to wait forever for Valencia,”_ he added.
_“And as I said, Arsenal, which is already going to make an offer of around €20m, is coming all in for the player. And not just Arsenal, but there are other European clubs that are going to offer—they want to acquire the player’s services in the coming weeks. That’s the reality.”_
