Timothy Weah has snubbed Nottingham Forest by rejecting a transfer to the City Ground – but his agent is not happy with the winger’s omission from Juventus’ Club World Cup defeat to Manchester City.
That’s according to Fabrizio Romano, who says Weah ‘has no intention to accept the proposal and negotiations’ and the transfer expert expects the deal with the Reds to collapse. He adds Forest have been informed.
A few hours later Romano went on to post comments from Weah’s agent, Badou Sambague, who was responding to the fact the 25-year-old did not even make the match-day squad for Juve’s 5-2 hammering by City. So far in the tournament he has played just 45 minutes of Juventus’ three matches.
According to Romano, Sambague said of the American being left out of the Juve squad: “Weah is a fantastic player and fantastic teammate. To see people acting like this for money and because they are selfish disappointed me a lot. This is a shame.
“Anyway, until I'm here, nobody will push one of the players I advise to go on the right or on the left like a marionette. I am happy that Timo has a top education and a top personality to stay focused on the game.”
Earlier this week, it appeared a double transfer was on the cards as Forest targeted Weah and Juventus teammate Samuel Mbangula. There was talk of the Reds being prepared to pay a combined €25 million (£21m) for the duo.

But while Mbangula is said to view a potential switch to the banks of the Trent as an “opportunity” amid a lack of minutes for Juve, doubts about Weah linking up with Nuno Espirito Santo’s side soon emerged. A few days ago, reports from Italy said the USA international needed “to be convinced” about the merits of a move.
It appears he is now set to stay put with the Serie A giants. So far, however, there has been no suggestion Mbangula’s potential move could also be dead in the water.
According to Italian publication Football Italia, the Reds have turned their attention to AC Milan midfielder Yunus Musah following Weah’s snub. Like Weah, Musah offers versatility as he can play in the centre of the pitch or out wide on the right.
Talks between the two clubs are said to be at an “early stage”. Milan are reportedly keen to offload Musah this summer and want at least €25m (£21m) for him.
It has been a relatively quiet start to the summer transfer window for Forest, who are yet to announce any signings. All that is expected to change in the coming weeks as the club work to bolster head coach Nuno’s resources ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
