Pacers drafted a point guard replacement for Tyrese Haliburton

The Indiana Pacers drafted guard Taelon Peter with the 54th overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.

The Indiana Pacers suffered a heartbreaking blow in Game 7 of the NBA Finals against the Oklahoma City Thunder, when star guard Tyrese Haliburton tore his Achilles — an injury that will likely sideline him for the entire upcoming season.

Just days after the Finals, the Pacers made a notable move in the NBA Draft, using their only pick to reinforce their backcourt depth.

With the 54th pick, Indiana selected Taelon Peter, a strong, efficient combo guard who brings two-way value and physicality to the lineup. Standing 6'4" and weighing 210 pounds, Peter has the tools to contribute on both ends of the floor.

In his lone season at Liberty, Peter averaged 13.7 points per game, shooting an impressive 57.8% from the field and 45.3% from three-point range. He became just the third player in program history to be selected in the NBA Draft.

With Haliburton out, the starting point guard duties will fall to Andrew Nembhard, who had a breakout year and a stellar playoff run, averaging 12.5 points, 4.7 assists, and 3.2 rebounds per game.https://basketnews.com/teams/212-indiana-pacers.html
