Lewis Hall’s struggle - names two Newcastle United players who helped him most

Newcastle United youngster Lewis Hall is working his way towards full fitness following foot sugery.

Lewis Hall is on the road to recovery after having his Newcastle United season cruelly cut short through injury.

A rising star was born last season as the 20-year-old broke into Eddie Howe’s first-team ranks. The Toon boss came under fire during Hall’s debut campaign - one that he spent largely on the bench.

Hall showed glimpses of his talents towards the back end of 2023-24 before enjoying a starring role last season. That was until a foot injury against Liverpool in February dealt a hammer blow to his and Newcastle’s hopes.

Lewis Hall missed Wembley final

The left-back required surgery and sat out the rest of the campaign - missing the Carabao Cup final and the Champions League run-in. Hailing from a family of Newcastle fans, watching the Wembley showdown from home proved a bitter pill to swallow.

Hall is now back on the training field and working towards full fitness ahead of a busy pre-season schedule. Speaking on his recovery, the youngster thanked club staff as well as skipper Jamaal Lascelles and Sven Botman - two players who have endured severe injury problems of late.

"All of the medical department have come together and had this plan for me, and they all help in different ways," Hall told the club website. "Alix (Ronaldson) and Nathan (Ring) are the ones day to day who have to deal with me when maybe I'm not in a good mood or whatever, so they're probably the ones that I feel most grateful for, and Sean as well, because I work with them every day.

"And a lot of the lads have tried to make me feel as part of the team as possible. I'll use Jam (Lascelles) as an example of that. Jam has been every day, even though he's back training, asking me how I am, him and Sven (Botman). Those two in particular have been keeping in contact every day, asking how I'm feeling and showing interest in what I'm doing. Little things like that go a long way, don't they?"

Lewis Hall on Newcastle United return

Hall is aiming to prove his worth once again when he makes a full Newcastle recovery. He added: “With any injury, especially a long-term one, it's so up in the air. Some people can come back quicker, some people take a bit longer. It all depends on how everything goes.

"For me, my aim is to be fit and ready to go for the first game of the season, but to do that, I'd like to have a few pre-season games as well beforehand. There are so many things to look forward to, like Champions League, international stuff hopefully, and just the fact that I've not played in so long. I want to show people what I was doing before I was injured and, if anything, come back a better, stronger player for it."
