Report: Wolves told to pay eye-watering asking price for wonderkid who stunned Chelsea at Club…

Molineux has become a hotbed for raising the profile of Brazilian talent, and as Wolves strengthen their squad in the transfer window, more names have popped onto the radar.

After selling Matheus Cunha to Manchester United, Joao Gomes, Andre and Pedro Lima are the only three Brazilians that remain at Wolves.

But after experiencing joy shopping in South America, the Old Gold are scouring the continent for the next lot of incredible talent, with Wolves showing an interest in winger Lucas Ferreira from Sao Paulo.

Ferreira isn’t the only Brazilian export being eyed by an English club, as the Wanderers were prepared to launch a £5 million bid for Palmeiras wonderkid Riquelme Fillipi back in March.

Now, reports indicate that Vitor Pereira could raid a rival of Palmeiras to sign a striker who is currently decimating teams at the Club World Cup.

Wolves target Wallace Yan has a £34m release clause

Gomes’ move from Flamengo in January 2023 has gone down as a resounding success, and Wolves could repeat that masterstroke this summer.

Wolves have scouted striker Wallace Yan ahead of a possible move to Molineux this summer after watching him flourish so far in the Club World Cup.

The 20-year-old came off the bench to score against Chelsea in a 3-1 victory, and then, Yan was rated an 8/10 by Brazilian media as another strike earned his side a 1-1 draw against LAFC.

Flamengo are now through to the round of 16, where they’ll face German giants Bayern Munich, and Yan will have another chance to showcase his breathtaking talent against European opposition.

Two excellent performances from the striker have only raised Pereira’s admiration towards the wonderkid, and according to Ge Globo, Wolves would have to pay his 40m (£34m) release clause to sign him this summer after inquiring about his availability.

Yan is tied down to a long-term contract by Flamengo, which explains the high release clause, and it could be worth triggering if his stunning form continues.

Wolves could use Goncalo Guedes in negotiations for Yan

There is a way that Wolves could soften the blow of paying £34 million for a 20-year-old, and that is by including Goncalo Guedes in negotiations.

Flamengo have shown an interest in Guedes, who is surplus to requirements at Molineux after scoring just twice in 29 league appearances in 2024/25.

Wolves paid a whopping £27.5 million for the Portuguese forward, and as his contract doesn’t expire until 2027, they will be hopeful of collecting a decent fee for him.

Should the Old Gold move forward in negotiations for Yan, perhaps Guedes can be used as a bargaining chip to reduce the overall amount required for the 2005-born striker.
