West Ham United are in talks with the camp of Reims forward Adama Bojang over a summer transfer window, according to the Sun.
However, the London Stadium club will be facing competition from Brentford and another unnamed Premier League club for the services of the 21-year-old Gambian.
The Hammers want to strengthen their striking ranks amid the uncertainty surrounding the futures of Niclas Fullkrug and Michail Antonio, and Bojang has caught their attention.
West Ham admire his potential and see him as a long-term project, and it is believed around £5 million could be enough to tempt Reims into parting ways with him this summer.
Bojang first caught the eyes of Premier League clubs in 2023 after impressing at the under-20 World Cup that year, with Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea all reportedly registering interest at the time.
However, he moved to the French club and spent last season on loan with Grasshopper Club Zurich, notching six goals and two assists in his last 13 games having gone without a goal contribution in his first 14 appearances.
Renowned football agent Sascha Empacher, who discovered Mohamed Salah believes the West Ham target is the ‘best African player’ he has seen in the last decade, and he has what it takes to impress in the Premier League in the near future.
“Adama is the best African player I’ve seen in the last ten years,” he told Sky Sports.
“He can become one of the greatest African strikers. In the same league as (Didier) Drogba, (Samuel) Eto’o, Salah, and (Victor) Osimhen.”
The Hammers are set to sign Celtic youth striker Daniel Cummings next month and adding Bojang to the team could be huge, but whether he has what it takes to immediately hit the ground running in the Premier League remains to be seen despite his huge potential.
