David Beckham has been hospitalised after suffering from 'unbearable pain' as his wife, Victoria, shared an image on social media. The Englishman retired from football in 2013 after a brief spell with Paris Saint-Germain in France, but has remained busy within the sport over the 12 years since.
He came through the ranks at Manchester United and made his professional debut for the Red Devils in 1994. He soon became one of the best wingers in English football history and earned a reputation for his incredible set-pieces and crossing ability. Beckham won just about everything there was to win over the course of nine years and 394 appearances with the United first-team.
After a falling out with Sir Alex Ferguson, he moved on to Real Madrid and then spent time with Los Blancos, LA Galaxy, AC Milan and PSG before calling it a day. Rather than fade into obscurity, he's remained at the forefront of football in the United States and is the owner of MLS franchise, Inter Miami. Having recently received his knighthood, all seemed to be going well for Beckham post-retirement, but he's now been taken to hospital.

Playing a sport like football, it's only natural that most stars pick up a multitude of injuries throughout their career. Most of them are dealt with immediately and can lead to prolonged time on the sidelines. Others aren't quite as serious and players can continue without dealing with them. That was the case for Beckham who injured his wrist during a game for England against South Africa back in 2003. That's right, he picked up the injury 22 years ago, but never quite got it sorted. During the contest, he collided awkwardly with South Africa's Thabang Molefe and it caused the injury.
Now, 22 years later, it's been causing him 'unbearable pain' and, per The Sun, he's been hospitalised to deal with it. The 50-year-old has undergone an operation to have his injury finally mended. His wife, Victoria, has even shared an image of Beckham in hospital via Instagram stories as he continues to recover.
A source, speaking to The Sun, said:
"David had been in pain for years but thought nothing of it. He just kept going until, in recent months, it became quite unbearable. A routine scan showed that the pin which was meant to have dissolved, hadn’t - so he was booked into finally resolve the issue all these years later.
"Victoria was at his bedside post op and all went well. He’s in great spirits."
Hopefully, the former England captain will make a speedy recovery.
