The 2025 NBA Draft came to a close on Thursday night with the second round taking place. For the first time in four years, a player going directly from KU to the NBA was not selected in the draft. It's just the second time in the last 15 years that KU hasn't had a player drafted. But, even with that said, two Jayhawks have already landed opportunities in the NBA.
According to a report from ESPN, Hunter Dickinson is expected to sign a two-way contract with the New Orleans Pelicans. The deal means Dickinson will split time between the Pelicans and their G-League team Birmingham Squadron. NBA teams are allowed three two-way contracts, which allow players to play in a maximum of 50 NBA games in a season.
Dickinson was a two-time All-American and a two-time First Team All-Big 12 selection during his two seasons at KU. He became the fastest player to reach 1,000 points as a Jayhawk under Bill Self during his second year with the program.
The big man will likely make his unofficial debut with the Pelicans at the NBA Summer League, which begins July 10.
In addition to Dickinson, Dajuan Harris has also found a landing spot. Per a report from Jon Chepkevich at DraftExpress, Harris will join the Charlotte Hornets for the NBA Summer League.
The Hornets organization has a history with KU guards. Devonte' Graham was selected by the Hornets in the 2018 NBA Draft. He spent three seasons with the organization. Marcus Garrett has been a member of the Hornets' G-League team the Greensboro Swarm since the start of the 2023-24 season. Garrett even made some NBA appearances with the Hornets this past season.
Harris was an Honorable Mention All Big 12 selection this past season. The guard finished the regular season averaging 5.7 assists per game, which ranked second in the conference during the regular season. In terms of assist-to-turnover ratio, Harris led the Big 12 at 3.3.
As of Friday morning, there had been nothing public about Zeke Mayo's landing spot.
