Axel Tuanzebe has rejected Ipswich Town’s offer of a new contract in favour of remaining in the Premier League.
With his deal at Portman Road due to expire at the end of the month, the Tractor Boys had been keen to tie the defender down to fresh terms.
Speaking towards the end of last season about the 27-year-old’s future, Town boss Kieran McKenna said: “We think a lot of him.

“He’s been a very important player for us this season and last season. He’s built himself back up to a good level of form, robustness and he’s found a good home here.
“Of course we’re going to try and if that can be possible I think we’d all be really pleased. I think it’s a good place for Axel as well. Let’s see what the next few weeks bring.”
However, it has now been confirmed that the former Manchester United player has signed a contract with newly-promoted Burnley.
He said: “I’m delighted to be here. It became a very simple decision after speaking to the manager and the message was very clear, precise and straight to the point.
“It’s a new chapter for me, back in the vicinity of Manchester and home and I’m ready to continue my journey now at Burnley.”
The 2023/24 promotion winner made 45 appearances across two campaigns with Ipswich, scoring one goal.
