RJ Davis signs Exhibit 10 contract with the Los Angeles Lakers

While the common thought was that Drake Powell would find a home in the NBA, another former Tar Heel that made his way into the Association is RJ Davis. Last night it was announced that he signed an Exhibit 10 contract with the Los Angeles Lakers as an undrafted free agent.

For those who may not be familiar, an Exhibit 10 contract is a one-year deal that pays minimum salary and no bonuses. Should the Lakers like what they see during the NBA Summer League, they could decide to sign Davis to a two-way contract, but if not we would expect to see him play for the Lakers’ G-League team throughout the 2025-26 season. Either way, it will be a good opportunity for Davis to get some experience under the NBA umbrella.

RJ Davis is a 5’11 guard out of White Plains, New York. He spent five years at UNC, and during that time he won plenty of awards, and helped the Tar Heels get to the Final Four in 2022. He finished his career averaging 17.2 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game. Known best for his shooting skills, Davis averaged 41.8% from the field, and 36.7% from three. The Lakers are getting an undersized guard that probably isn’t going to have the best time defensively, but the flip side is that he is a dangerous offensive threat that could light it up at any given moment.

I wish Davis the best of luck with the Lakers organization, and hopefully we see him get to suit up a few times in the NBA regular season.
