Premier League clubs are concerned about the potential damage that could be caused if Manchester City’s 115 charges verdict isn’t delivered before next season, sources have told Football Insider.

Man City were dealt the charges by the Premier League in February 2023 for allegedly breaching the financial fair play (FFP) rules over a nine-year period between 2009 and 2018.

They are alleged to have concealed payments through third parties by disguising them as sponsorship revenue.

An independent commission hearing started in September last year and ended in December, with the panel still considering its verdict.

There has so far been little information provided on which way the decision could go and when it could be revealed.

Sources say top-flight clubs are concerned about the damage it could cause to the Premier League brand if the initial verdict isn’t delivered before the start of next season.

Man City have shown confidence in 115 charges case

Finance expert Stefan Borson told Football Insider it could be a “bad signal” for Man City in their 115 charges case if the decision isn’t published until after the summer.

Their lawyers are expected to appeal against any potential punishment after the club have been adamant they haven’t done anything wrong since the charges were handed out more than two years ago.

It is believed the case is unlikely to reach a full conclusion until the end of this year if any appeals are launched against the verdict.

However, Man City have shown signs of confidence in the case following their heavy spending in this calendar year.

Pep Guardiola’s side have spent around £290million on new signings in 2025, with Tijjani Reijnders, Rayan Cherki and Rayan Ait-Nouri the latest recruits through the door at the Etihad Stadium.

Man City make final Morgan Gibbs-White transfer decision

In terms of further additions, Football Insider revealed on 16 June Man City have made a final decision on signing Morgan Gibbs-White this summer.

The Manchester giants’ interest in the Nottingham Forest star has cooled following the arrivals of Cherki and Reijnders.

Forest’s £70million valuation for their star midfielder is thought to be a key factor behind the decision.
