Harvey Elliott urged to join Liverpool's direct Champions League rival -'A lot to like'

A move to Tottenham has been touted for Harvey Elliott as speculation continues over his future at Liverpool.

The 22-year-old has been linked with a move away from Anfield this summer after a difficult first season under Arne Slot. Elliott started just six times across in a total of 28 appearances across all competitions, having played 53 times in the previous campaign under Jurgen Klopp.

With Florian Wirtz arriving from Bayer Leverkusen, he could find appearances even harder to come by next season, given the German international looks likely to battle it out with Dominik Szoboszlai for the No. 10 role.

Elliott, though, sent a timely reminder to Slot this week as he fired England to the final of the UEFA European U21 Championship, having scored both goals in the 2-1 win over the Netherlands.

That performance has seen Elliott face calls to leave Liverpool this summer, with West Ham, Brighton, and Fulham all being linked in recent days. Former Tottenham midfielder Jamie O’Hara has now added his old side to the mix, insisting a move to north London would be perfect ahead of Spurs’ return to the Champions League next season.

“I would have him at Tottenham, 100 per cent,” O’Hara told talkSPORT. “He would play on the right and compete with Brennan Johnson. [Dejan] Kulusevski is quite a similar player to him.

“But I think Harvey Elliott has something about him. He can play as a number 10, he can play in different areas, he can play in midfield. I like Harvey Elliott. There’s a lot to like.”

Elliott himself has hinted he could look to move away from Anfield in order to get regular game time, although he still insists he wants to stay at Liverpool.

"It's just a situation that me and the team have to have a conversation about because I'm coming into an age now where I'm 22, I'm going to be 23 next season," Elliott said earlier this month.

"I don't really want to be wasting years on my career because it's a short career. You don't know what's going to happen.

"I need to reflect. I need to see if I'm content in doing what I'm doing, and how can I improve as a player, because that's the most important thing.

"I just want to improve and be the best possible version of myself. If that's to go somewhere else, then it's a decision that I'm going to have to make and I just need to see what happens.

"Nothing makes me want to leave. I love the club, I love the fans, the team. I support them as well. But most importantly, it's just about what's best for my career."
