National reports suggest the former Carlisle United star is in the advanced stage of negotiations over a new long-term contract.
Branthwaite, who turns 23 today, is currently under contract until the summer of 2027.
But Everton look set to secure the Wigton star for longer, with a new five-year on the table, according to reports in sources such as The Times, Sky Sports and The Athletic.
News that Branthwaite is set to remain at Everton will dash Carlisle's immediate prospects of a major transfer windfall from the centre-back.

United have a sell-on clause following his move from Brunton Park to the Toffees in January 2020, and it's understood would benefit significantly should Branthwaite make a big-money move.
But that appears to be off the agenda in the short term, despite long-trailed interest from clubs including Manchester United.
Sky say Branthwaite, whose agent is the former Carlisle captain David Reeves, could put pen to paper on the new deal as early as next week.
It means the England international will remain with Everton as the Merseyside club prepare to move to their new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock.
The Cumbrian will hope to further his international ambitions during his continued spell with the Toffees, with Branthwaite winning one cap to date.
Fans have their say on new Carlisle United home kit
During his time at Everton, the former Carlisle academy product has made 75 Premier League appearances as well as 11 outings in cup competitions.
He played 14 times for Carlisle's first team before being snapped up by the top-flight club.
Branthwaite's fellow top-flight Cumbrian, James Trafford, could be on the move this summer.
The Burnley No1, from Greysouthen, continues to be linked strongly with a move to Newcastle United.
Trafford started out at Carlisle's academy before joining Manchester City aged 12. He has been at Burnley for the last two years.
