Liverpool youngster Koumas an option in City winger search

The Canaries are expected to add two wide men to their squad this summer, with sporting director Ben Knapper out to replace former loanee Lewis Dobbin and top scorer Borja Sainz, who is likely to leave Carrow Road.

One of the avenues they're likely to use is the Premier League loan route, having procured both Dobbin and Kaide Gordon via the same means during the 2024-25 season.

Koumas is a player liked by Norwich and fitting that profile, and plied his trade in the Championship last term with their divisional rivals Stoke. He scored three goals and claimed two assists for the Potters in 43 league games.

The 19-year-old - whose father is former Welsh international Jason Koumas - scored on his senior debut for the Reds last year, netting in a 3-0 FA Cup win over Southampton in February.

He signed a new long-term contract at Anfield before moving to Stoke, with reports linking him to a return to the second tier during the window.

Knapper made clear in his post-season debrief that City would be active in the loan market, admitting that developing players from the club's own academy is preferable but refusing to shut the door on a temporary deal.

"It'll definitely be a market that we're across," he said. "Obviously we utilised it quite well last season as well, so it's definitely a market that we'll look at.

"We're never going to be a club that is reliant on that, because of course we want to develop our own players and assets to the organisation. But it's definitely a market that you have to be alive to. I think it'd be foolish to just be closed off to it.

"It can allow you access to a talent pool that you might otherwise not be able to access. In the right moment, for a particular need in the squad, absolutely it's something that we'll be across."
