The Giants bolstered their defensive line this offseason by using the No. 2 overall pick on Abdul Carter, but that could open up the possibility of trading away another starter.
The Giants now have three edge rushers and the chance to have a formidable unit after drafting Carter, who joins Brian Burns and Kayvon Thibodeaux.
There’s been a lot of speculation recently that the Giants could consider trading Thibodeaux, whom they drafted fifth overall in 2022. ESPN’s Aaron Schatz is among those who suggest the Giants trade the 24-year-old linebacker.
“Yes, New York can use an edge rusher rotation and get plenty of value out of him,’ he wrote. ”It can create a NASCAR-style package where one of its edge rushers moves inside on third down. But the Giants can also trade Thibodeaux to a contender that needs help on the edge, such as the Packers or the Lions, and probably get a Day 2 pick in return."
Through three seasons, Thibodeaux has recorded 21 sacks. He had 5.5 sacks over 12 games last year.
