West Ham United appear to have been handed a huge opportunity in their pursuit of Yunus Musah.

The midfielder is preparing to leave AC Milan after two years with the Italian giants, and the Hammers had emerged as a potential candidate to sign him.

West Ham reportedly made a last-ditch attempt to sign Musah a few weeks ago, but were ultimately unsuccessful in their attempts.

The 22-year-old had been in advanced negotiations over a move to Napoli, but now the door has seemingly opened for Graham Potter and Co. to move in and secure his signature.

Milan are waiting for Premier League interest in Musah

Musah is a long-term target for West Ham, with the East Londoners first credited with an interest in him way back in the summer of 2023 when he was at Valencia, but now it appears as though they could finally be about to get their man.

Discussions between Musah and Napoli are understood to have become “stranded” due to Napoli handing former Fulham man Frank Anguissa a new deal, according to Tutto Mercato (27 June).

With that move now off the table, Milan are believed to now be waiting for an opportunity to sell Musah to a club in the Premier League, with West Ham specifically named as an interested party.

The Hammers are still interested in the American international, and have now surely been provided the perfect opportunity to push through their interest and secure a deal to bring Musah to E20.

Musah would be a good addition for West Ham

The midfield could represent something of a problem area for West Ham this summer. Lucas Paqueta is still awaiting the outcome of his FA hearing, while Edson Alvarez and Guido Rodriguez have struggled to have a sustained impact at the club.

Potter would surely like at least one new addition in the engine room, and Musah could be the perfect man for the job.

Musah’s career stats.

The 22-year-old has experience beyond his years, having already notched over 90 appearances in La Liga and over 50 in Serie A. He has proven himself to be an effective player in two of Europe’s major leagues, so the Premier League could well be the next logical step.

He still has plenty of development left ahead of him, and Potter would likely be able to provide him with enough minutes to be able to facilitate that.

The Hammers may have failed in their previous attempts to land Musah, but this time it could be a very different story.
