Liverpool sets Harvey Elliott asking price as transfer decision beckons

Liverpool may have set its price for Harvey Elliott this summer as the midfielder continues to be linked with a move away from Anfield.

Elliott’s future has become a big talking point as he continues to impress for England at the UEFA European U21 Championship, having fired the Young Lions to Saturday’s final with two goals against the Netherlands earlier this week.

Despite proving to be his country’s saviour, the 22-year-old faces an uncertain future at Liverpool. He struggled for game time in Arne Slot’s first season in charge, making just six starts in 28 appearances across all competitions, having played 53 times in the previous campaign under Jurgen Klopp.

What’s more, he’s likely to find game time even harder to come by next season following the arrival of Florian Wirtz, which looks set to push Elliott even further down the pecking order.

His match-winning contribution on Wednesday has seen him receive calls from a number of pundits to leave Liverpool this summer - something which the player himself has hinted he may have to do in order to get regular playing time.

And now, according to the Daily Mail, Liverpool has set its price for Elliott as clubs begin to line up for services. It’s claimed the Reds want at least $55 million to even consider selling him - a price that will only go up if Elliott impresses again in Saturday’s final against Germany.

Three clubs are named in the report as holding an interest in Elliott, including Brighton and West Ham. RB Leipzig is also touted as a possible destination, which might tempt Liverpool more if it can avoid selling to a Premier League rival.

The Mail also backs up the theory that Elliott could find playing time even harder to come by at Anfield next season, having suggested that he is now considered fourth in line for the No.10 role behind Wirtz, Dominik Szoboszlai and Curtis Jones.

Elliott is only too aware of his current situation, although he has insisted he still wants to stay at Liverpool.

"It's just a situation that me and the team have to have a conversation about because I'm coming into an age now where I'm 22, I'm going to be 23 next season," Elliott said earlier this month.

"I don't really want to be wasting years on my career because it's a short career. You don't know what's going to happen.

"I need to reflect. I need to see if I'm content in doing what I'm doing and how can I improve as a player because that's the most important thing.

"I just want to improve and be the best possible version of myself. If that's to go somewhere else, then it's a decision that I'm going to have to make and I just need to see what happens.

"Nothing makes me want to leave. I love the club, I love the fans, the team. I support them as well. But most importantly, it's just about what's best for my career."
