Coleman signs new Everton deal, Branthwaite set to follow

Everton captain Seamus Coleman has signed a new one-year deal, while Jarrad Branthwaite is close to committing his long-term future to the club.

Coleman’s deal was due to expire at the end of the month but the Irishman has put pen to paper on an extension. It extends Coleman’s time at the club into a 17th season.

After signing the deal, Coleman said: “I love Everton, so to continue playing for this special club means everything to me and my family.”

The 36-year-old featured for just 216 minutes in the Premier League last season but Everton had been keen to retain Coleman’s experience and standards in the dressing room.

Everton are also closing in on a new contract for Jarrad Branthwaite in a huge boost to the Toffees. Branthwaite was subject of two bids from Manchester United last summer, while Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move in the current window.

Various sources are reporting Branthwaite is nearing an agreement on a new long-term contract. Securing Branthwaite to a new deal has been a priority for new Everton owners The Friedkin Group and is close to completion.

The deals are a huge positive for David Moyes and Everton ahead of a new era. Everton will move into their new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock in 2025/26, while there will be mass change on the pitch.

Everton currently have just 14 senior players contracted for next season, though there is optimism that Idrissa Gueye will sign fresh terms.
