Texas men's basketball newcomer Dailyn Swain projected just outside first round of 2026 NBA…

Texas guard/forward Dailyn Swain is projected as the No. 36 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, according to ESPN. The 6-foot-8, 220-pounder is currently the only Longhorn projected to be drafted in the way-too-early mock drafts.

UT saw guard Tre Johnson go to the Washington Wizards on Wednesday night with the sixth overall pick.

Swain averaged 8 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1.3 steals per game with the Musketeers. He was considered one of top prospects in the transfer portal this cycle. 247Sports rated Swain the No. 43 overall portal prospect.

Swain is joining new Texas head coach Sean Miller in Austin after spending two seasons in Cincinnati. Miller was asked about Swain and fellow Xavier transfer Lassina Traore being a part of his inaugural Longhorns squad.

"And Lassina and Dailyn have a unique opportunity, because they've been with us, in Dailyn's case, for multiple years, and in Lassina's case, this past year. But they know how we travel, how we practice," Miller said. "They know terminology. They know people. They know our strength coach. They know who I am, and I do think that they'll be very helpful in bridging that gap that is there when you're a new coach at a new place with the other players.

"Equally important are the five or six Texas returners. Those guys have been in the SEC. They understand what it's like to play in Nashville, be part of the SEC Tournament, that live in Austin, to go to school every day. So, they're going to be, from that retention perspective, very helpful in building.

"So, we have retention this coming year, in my first year, two different ways, from the two guys coming from Xavier, and from those returning from Texas. That's a force that I don't think we underestimate. You obviously collect talent. You have to have a talented roster, especially in this league. But the familiarity and the retention part of it is something we hope to build as well."

The current Texas roster consists of the following players:

Tramon Mark*, Chendall Weaver*, Nic Codie*, Jordan Pope*, Anthony McDermott*, Chendall Weaver*, Dailyn Swain, Simeon Wilcher, Matas Vokietaitis, Lassina Traore, Camden Heide, John Clark****, andLewis Obiorah.
