Arsenal interested in £80m+ Newcastle star after giving up on Alexander Isak?

The transfer rumour mill is once again spinning with another of Newcastle United’s key men linked with a move to one of the traditional ‘Big Six’.

Alexander Isak’s time at Newcastle has seen him fancied by Arsenal and, more recently, Liverpool, while there was once talk linking Bruno Guimaraes with Manchester City just last summer.

Showing how good our recruitment has been, another of the Toon’s assets has drawn interest from one of the few sides who finished above us last season as they look to bolster their own options in attack at our expense…

According to a new report from The Standard, Arsenal are considering a move for Anthony Gordon as they actively pursue attacking reinforcements this summer.

It’s believed Mikel Arteta wants an upgrade on Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard on the left wing, and sees Gordon as one of three main options that can bolster his squad.

Versatile Crystal Palace winger Eberechi Eze is another who is being targeted, while the Gunners are also keeping tabs on Real Madrid’s Rodrygo for a move this summer.

However, while ‘interest’ is one thing, agreeing a fee with Newcastle is another matter entirely.

The iPaper’s Mark Douglas has highlighted that ‘the early indications’ suggest there ‘isn’t much of a market for Gordon’ at the price tag Newcastle have set for the 24-year-old.

In a comfortable position this summer and with no need or desire to sell, our valuation for Gordon is believed to be north of £80m.

It shows the club’s confidence in the winger despite a somewhat tricky season, playing down Arsenal and Liverpool’s hopes of striking a deal after reports have indicated he still has big admirers on Merseyside.

Unlike Isak, Bruno or Tonali, I’ve seen some fans suggest we should cash in on Gordon if a huge offer arrived, but the fact we value him at £80m-plus suggests he’ll be staying on Tyneside this summer.
