Report: Man Utd want £41m 'physically strong' player that Jason Wilcox knows well, can fulfil Ruben Amorim demand

Manchester United are turning attention away from the attack in the transfer window this summer.

Ineos have already spent roughly £125m this summer, but things are far from finished in the transfer window.

Matheus Cunha was first through the door, costing £62.5m and arriving as an immediate starter for Manchester United. The Brazilian is a massive upgrade, and with Omar Berrada comparing Cunha to Eric Cantona, big things are expected.

In terms of senior arrivals, United are imminently about to sign Bryan Mbeumo, with his medical expected next week ahead of a £63m deal.

After Mbeumo arrives, United are still targeting four more signings including a goalkeeper, striker, and also a new midfielder. More specifically, Ruben Amorim has asked for an athletic midfielder this summer, believing his club lacks physicality.

Now, there have been links to a physically brilliant midfielder.

Manchester United interested in signing Felix Nmecha

In terms of bolstering the midfield, United have a variety of options.

At the more expensive end of the spectrum, United are monitoring PSG’s Warren Zaire-Emery, however with a likely asking price of over £85m, the chances of a deal look slim.

More reasonably, United have been linked with Ardon Jashari who would cost just £34m, but AC Milan are favourites.

Now, German journalist Christian Falk has reported another option, in the form of a midfielder from Borussia Dortmund.

Falk has claimed that United are interested in signing former Manchester City academy player Felix Nmecha this summer.

Additionally, BILD reports that United are considering making an offer of around €48m or £41m.

United’s interest in Nmecha is likely being pushed by Director of Football, Jason Wilcox who will know of the German midfielder from his days in the Manchester City academy.

Felix Nmecha is perfect for Ruben Amorim

Signing a midfielder this summer seems to have grown in priority for United over the past few weeks, and it is clear that Ineos want an athletic number eight to complement Bruno Fernandes or Kobbie Mainoo.

Nmecha would suit this demand perfectly, being strong and athletic while also having the technical ability needed to thrive in a Premier League midfield.

This has been outlined by Dortmund sporting director Sebastien Kehl, who spoke glowingly about the midfielder, as quoted by the Bundesliga.

“Felix Nmecha is a fast, technically adept, and physically strong player who will enhance our midfield both offensively and defensively with his profile.”
