Barcelona president Joan Laporta has on Friday provided a fresh insight into the club’s ongoing pursuit of Nico Williams.
The name of wide-man Nico has of course continued to dominate the Spanish media headlines across the week to date.
This comes with Barcelona’s efforts to bring the 22-year-old to Catalunya’s capital having been met with staunch resistance on the part of their Athletic Club counterparts.
To the point that, on Thursday, the Basque outfit released an official statement, confirming talks with La Liga over Barca’s financial situation.

Within the topic of financial fair play, FC Barcelona's ability to sign players was discussed, among other issues.

Faced by the media earlier today, it therefore came as little surprise when the Nico situation was put to the aforementioned Joan Laporta once more.
And the Blaugrana president appeared equally confident and defiant in his response, explaining:
“Pay Nico Williams’ clause? If there is an opportunity in the market that requires paying a release clause, Barcelona is ready to do what is necessary”.
