Michael Jordan is a lot of things. The basketball GOAT? Check. Entrepreneurial icon? Check. Avid golfer and gambling, um, buff? Check and check. But perhaps above all else, Michael Jordan is a trash talker. Nothing, not even a midrange fadeaway, comes as naturally to the six-time NBA champion as ruthlessly ribbing his friends at every available opportunity.
But don’t take out word for it. Just check out this recent video of His Airness rolling up on fellow GOAT Lawrence Taylor on the golf course. After some idle chit chat between the two legends, Jordan turns to leave, but not before going straight for LT’s jugular. Check it out.
“How you playing?” Jordan asks Taylor, greeting him with a hug.
“Alright,” Taylor replies. “Just hanging in there, just hanging in.”
Jordan then goes around the group, greeting everyone with daps. Before he hops back in his cart, however, he points down at Taylor’s shoes—a pair of black slip-ons with black socks—and delivers a parting dagger.
“Man, you really doing motherf—ing relaxing!” he riffs, sending the whole group, including Taylor, into peels of laughter before pulling away in his cart.
There are precious few people who can talk sh*t to Lawrence Taylor and live to tell the tale. Jordan is one of them. You can tell that those who know Jordan, expect this sort of riffing from him, especially on the golf course. It's nothing personal. It's just part of the MJ experience. That said, we wouldn’t be surprised if LT wakes up Monday morning to find a shiny new pair of Jordans waiting on his doorstep.
