Cooper Flagg is now a part of the Dallas Mavericks, so fans are asking how special he’ll be.
What will he bring to Dallas, and how much can he impact the team in his rookie season?
Former Golden State Warriors GM Bob Myers is blown away by Flagg and spoke about him at length.
He made a startling statement: he thinks Flagg could do more in his rookie season than Victor Wembanyama did.
“The unique thing about Cooper Flagg is he impacts winning more so than a lot of players. I’m gonna say something that might be controversial: Victor Wembanyama got a lot of attention being the #1 pick. I could see Cooper Flagg impacting winning more than Victor did in his rookie year, and Victor is a fantastic player. The reason is Cooper Flagg is as NBA-ready as they come, and I’ll tell you why: He guards. He defends. He blocks. He steals. That’s what I think makes him so unique,” Myers said, via NBA Retweet.

That is quite the claim from Myers, so will it happen?
The upsides to Flagg seem endless, and he really could be one of the most amazing rookies in years.
To Myers’ point, he can guard, defend, block, and steal.
All of those things can immediately help the Mavericks, especially since they will be without Kyrie Irving for some time.
But will he really impact winning more than Wembanyama did?
The Mavericks will be in a better position during Flagg’s rookie year than the Spurs were during Wembanyama’s, but that doesn’t mean one player is better than the other.
And perhaps Flagg takes some time to adjust to playing in the NBA, and maybe his transition process isn’t quick.
He has a ton of promise, but there are still questions about Flagg, and rightfully so.
