Raptors Part Ways With Longtime Executive

Just days into the NBA offseason, the Toronto Raptors have made a major change, and they are without a leader.

On Friday morning, Shams Charania announced that Masai Ujiri is no longer the Vice Chairman and President of the Raptors.

He was about to enter the final year of his contract, which would have had him in Toronto for his 13th season.

Ujiri first started working with the Raptors in 2013-14 and helped the franchise win their first and, so far, only title in 2018-19.

But things have been a rocky road for the Raptors since then.

Last season, they had a 30-52 record and missed the playoffs once again.

It is clear that something has to change in Toronto, but was cutting Ujiri loose the right move?

Who will come to replace him, and where will he go?

He will surely get a lot of attention from other teams throughout the league, and there is a chance he will have a new job soon.

Things may not have ended how he wanted them to with the Raptors, but Ujiri could still be a coveted figure in the league for years to come.

As for the Raptors, people are wondering what’s next.

There have been many rumors about them recently, including that they were pursuing Kevin Durant.

Will this be a summer of big change, or will the firing of Ujiri be their only adjustment?

One thing is for sure: fans probably won’t put up with another bad season for Toronto, so they are hoping they do something – anything – to turn the tide.
