The 2025 NBA Draft has concluded, meaning that the time has come for the Sacramento Kings to focus on free agency and the trade market.
24th overall pick Nique Clifford joins Sacramento following a draft-night trade that brought the Colorado State product into Kings general manager Scott Perry’s grasp. Consensus top-30 pick Maxime Raynaud, a high-scoring and high-rebounding center out of Stanford, fell into the Beam Team’s lap at 42nd.
While Sacramento has added two rookies into the fold for 2025-26, they will have to make decisions on free agent forwards Trey Lyles and Jake LaRavia.
The Kings also have until Sunday night to decide on guard Keon Ellis’ $2.3 million team option for 2025-26. If Sacramento picks up the option, Ellis will become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season. If they decline, Ellis will enter restricted free agency this summer, allowing other interested teams to offer the two-way guard a larger contract–but the Kings would have 48 hours to match any offer.
Here’s a look at the updated Sacramento Kings roster ahead of the start of NBA free agency, which gets underway on Monday, June 30th at 3 pm PT.

While the Sacramento Kings have been linked to some big names during the early stages of the offseason, it’s becoming more likely they will bring in a stop-gap option for their starting point guard vacancy.
After being linked to stars like Trae Young and Darius Garland in recent weeks, whispers grew louder over the days leading up to the 2025 NBA Draft that Sacramento might go in another direction to fill the role.
Instead of leveraging first-round picks and future flexibility for a player like Young or Garland, the Kings appear to be more comfortable with a stop-gap solution for the 2025-26 season.
More proof of this way of thinking was confirmed late Tuesday night when NBA insider Marc Stein reported that Sacramento is viewed as a ‘likely leading suitor’ for veteran guard Dennis Schröder when the NBA’s free agency negotiation period begins on Monday, June 30th.
