Everton are on the verge of completing one of their most significant deals of the summer, and a lot of credit has to be given to David Moyes.
Moyes made an emotional return to Goodison Park midway through last season and steered the Toffees away from the relegation zone to a comfortable 13th-place finish.
With Everton now moving to their new stadium under new ownership, morale among fans is high, and there is plenty of optimism that there will be significant improvements in the transfer window.
One hugely important deal is now on the verge of completion, and this may arguably be the biggest result of the positive impact Moyes has had since replacing Sean Dyche.

Everton in advanced talks over a new Jarrad Branthwaite contract
Jarrad Branthwaite has been outstanding over the last two seasons and has established himself as arguably Everton’s most important player.
MORE TOFFEES STORIES
As a result, the centre-back has attracted a lot of transfer interest, with Manchester United heavily keen on the Englishman last summer.
However, Moyes has now been handed a massive boost, as according to Fabrizio Romano (27 June), Branthwaite is now in “advanced talks” over a new contract with Everton, which could see him extend his stay on more money at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Branthwaite has made 86 appearances for Everton over the last two seasons, and it looks as though more will now follow as the defender is set to stay put this summer.
Moyes is responsible for Branthwaite remaining at Everton
Everton looked lost in the final weeks of Dyche’s reign, and given the interest in Branthwaite last year, many would have assumed the defender would end up departing with the Toffees still battling relegation.
However, the arrival of Moyes changed everything. Branthwaite’s performances went to a new level as Everton registered one of the best defensive records in the Premier League, and several players improved under the Scot’s guidance.
Without Moyes returning and improving Everton’s fortunes, it seemed inevitable that Branthwaite would depart this summer, but instead, he is now the face of the club’s project as they aim to continue improving in their new stadium next season. Therefore, Moyes deserves all the praise.
Branthwaite has established an excellent partnership with James Tarkowski, and they will hope to be joined in the back four by Fulham defender Kenny Tete.
