The Boston Celtics have been surprisingly busy lately, trading away some strong talent and reportedly considering more changes.
But will they trade away two of their biggest stars, Derrick White and Jaylen Brown?
Speaking with Noa Dalzell, Celtics’ Assistant GM Mike Zarren shot down this idea and made it clear to the fans: the Celtics are planning to keep White and Brown.
“Those two guys are really, really great NBA players. There hasn’t been anything close to serious about trading [Jaylen Brown and Derrick White]. And so I’m not sure all this reporting came from. But those guys are key parts of our team, and we’re lucky to have them here,” Zarren, said of the trade rumors.
I asked assistant general manager Mike Zarren about the reports that teams were calling Jaylen Brown and Derrick White about a potential trade, and about where they fit into the Celtics future:

The rumors about these two started earlier this week as the draft quickly approached.
Just a few months ago, the concept of either player leaving the Celtics seemed far-fetched, to say the least.
But a lot has changed in a short amount of time.
The team is in a very bad place when it comes to finances.
They are paying a lot in taxes and are trying to shed contracts so they can save money.
Then, there is the Jayson Tatum situation, which has only made things worse for Boston.
Tatum is likely out for all of next season, and the team needs to find an identity without him.
It may seem counterproductive, but losing White and Brown could be key to bringing in the sort of players that can help them get through this next tricky season.
According to most reports, the Celtics won’t leap at the chance to cut these two loose, but if they get an offer they cannot say no to, they will definitely consider it.
Zarren says it’s not happening, but that doesn’t mean the rumors and speculation will immediately go away.
