Brentford have announced the appointment of Keith Andrews as their new head coach, as Manchester United continue to pursue a deal for Bryan Mbeumo.
United have been heavily linked with signing Mbeumo for several weeks as the summer transfer window rolls on. The Manchester Evening News understands that United recently submitted a second bid worth around £63million for the Cameroon international.
Amid rumours around Mbeumo's future at the Gtech Community Stadium, the Bees have also been searching for a new manager following the departure of Thomas Frank, who replaced Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham Hotspur.
Andrews has now been appointed as Frank's successor, having previously worked as Brentford's set-piece coach.
"Pretty humbled would be the overriding feeling, honoured that I’m the person that’s been chosen to take the club into the next chapter," Andrews said in an interview with Brentford's club website.
"I’m very appreciative of the owner, the board and the staff that have supported this decision. It’s an opportunity I feel I’m very capable of doing and ready to do.
“I don’t know where to start in terms of what’s exciting me because there’s so much: the potential of the football club, the potential of the players and the potential of the staff that underpin what has brought success to this brilliant football club."

One of Andrews' first jobs as Brentford head coach could be finding a solution to Mbeumo's potential move to United. There has been confidence from United that the forward would choose a move to Old Trafford rather than the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Should a deal be completed, Mbeumo would join Matheus Cunha in completing a move to United this summer.
