Fans hoping to hear some good news about Jonathan Kuminga staying with the Golden State Warriors probably weren’t happy with the latest statement from Mike Dunleavy.
Speaking to the press, Dunleavy made it clear that Kuminga is fully in charge of his fate in free agency.
Only he can decide if he remains with Golden State or if he goes, and Dunleavy didn’t make it clear which way Kuminga would go.
“I think from his end, ultimately, he’s the one, as a free agent, [who] has to sign the contract. If that happens with us, that’s reflective of his desire to be here. We’ll see, as they say,” Dunleavy said, per Anthony Slater.

Kuminga recently made comments about wanting to do more for his team.
He said he feels he is ready to lead and wants to have that opportunity, and some people felt that was a veiled swipe at the Warriors and head coach Steve Kerr.
Kerr hasn’t used Kuminga that often, and some fans are wondering why.
Does he not like the young player, or does he just not believe in his skills?
Regardless, Kuminga is ready to do more, and that is putting him in a difficult position at free agency.
Does he stay with the Warriors, hoping that he will get more time to shine, or does he try his luck with another team that is looking to give him more time on the court?
As Dunleavy said, it is totally up to him, and no one else can make this choice.
A lot of people think that Kuminga could go either way, and there is a chance he’s back in Golden State next season or packing his bags and heading somewhere else.
He wants to play more, and he wants to win – can he do that with the Warriors?
