Things remain fluid after the 2025 NBA Draft, but the Celtics’ Summer League roster is starting to come together. There will soon be an official announcement between a roster and schedule coming soon. The annual Las Vegas Summer League is set to take place from July 10-20.
The Celtics chose three picks in the draft in Hugo Gonzalez (No. 28), Amari Williams (No. 46) and Max Shulga (No. 57). Gonzalez is expected to be in Boston next week, though it’s unclear if he’ll play in Summer League. The other two draft picks should be good to go for Vegas.
Expect the C’s to have a few familiar faces and past draft picks playing in Summer League, too. Per CLNS’ Bobby Manning, that’s looking like a cast of Baylor Scheierman (2024 first-round pick), Jordan Walsh (2023 second-round pick) and others. After the C’s made a number of trades in the lead-up to the draft, those wings could push for a rotation spot come next season. That will all start with Summer League.
A few other Summer League names have trickled out, too, as the Celtics will get to keep a close eye on a few prospects. There are droves of notable college players who get Summer League invites in hopes to get scouted for either the NBA, G League or even overseas as scouts flock to Vegas.
St. John’s wing Aaron Scott is expected to join the Celtics, per the New York Post. He averaged 8.4 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 36 games for the Red Storm last season. Scott started his career at North Texas before transferring to St. John’s. He’s listed at 6-foot-7.
Penn State forward Zach Hicks is also set to play for the C’s, per Draft Express. Hicks averaged 11.6 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 31 games for the Nittany Lions last season. He’s another lengthy wing at 6-foot-8.
Gonzaga forward Ben Gregg is set to be another member of the Summer C’s, per the Spokesman Review. Gregg averaged 9.1 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 35 games for Gonzaga last season. Gregg also brings size at 6-foot-10.
Expect there to be a few more potential names involved for the Celtics. Even if these guys don’t stick with the C’s, getting valuable reps in the Summer League can open doors for them.
