TBR Football can exclusively reveal that Newcastle have just had a significant bid rejected for a Premier League star.
Newcastle have been working on bolstering their squad ahead of the new season after dramatically qualifying for the Champions League on the last day of the Premier League.
The Magpies have had a few targets identified which they are working hard to sign. One position they are keen on bolstering is the goalkeeper, but they have failed to secure their top targets so far.
They have also been strongly linked with Brighton’s Joao Pedro, also wanted by Chelsea, and TBR Football can reveal that they just failed in an attempt to sign him.

Newcastle see Brighton turn down initial £50m offer for Joao Pedro
TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey can confirm that Brighton have rejected two bids for Pedro. One of them is from Newcastle worth around £50m.
The second club is unnamed; however, Chelsea have also been strongly linked with Pedro in recent days.
The Magpies have made Pedro their top target this summer as previously revealed by TBR Football.
Eddie Howe is said to be a big fan of the player and has been trying to sign him since his Watford days.
Brighton value him at around £60m, double the price they paid for him back in 2023. The valuation gap is not much, which suggests that the Magpies could potentially return with an improved offer.

Impact of Joao Pedro’s potential signing on Alexander Isak’s future at Newcastle
Alexander Isak’s future at Newcastle remains uncertain, with several clubs showing strong interest in signing him this summer.
Liverpool see Isak as their dream signing and TBR Football have previously reported that the Reds could spend another 100m plus on a new striker this summer.
Even Newcastle United fans believe Isak could end up at Anfield, with suggestions that the Merseyside club are currently raising cash to sign him with the recent sales.
Arsenal have also been linked with Isak early on in the transfer window, but it appears that they are focusing on more easily attainable targets.
It has been suggested that while signing Isak is not going to be easy, Newcastle signing Pedro could relatively improve the chances of Liverpool signing Isak.
Of course Pedro’s stats are not compatible with Isak, however, he has produced ‘incredible‘ numbers for the Seagulls since joining.
In 70 games, he has scored 30 and assisted 10 across all competitions, including 10 goals and 7 assists this past season.
