Arsenal next three transfers decided after£87m swoop in Andrea Berta masterplan

Over the last 72 hours, Arsenal have been extremely active in the summer transfer window and that looks likely to continue heading into July.

The summer trading period has been open for nearly two months and in that time, Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United have all announced additions. As for Arsenal, despite one deal being all but agreed for a number of months, no new signings have been confirmed.

Martin Zubimendi joining from Real Sociedad has been in the works since early February, though, with a full agreement reached that will see Arsenal pay £55million (€65m) over instalments. Though all the important details have been finalised, a request by the Spanish club for that deal not to be ratified until July was made.

Therefore, it will likely be another three days at least before confirmation arrives. With that decision also set to impact Arsenal's own books and a relatively big outlay coming so early into the financial year, it may explain why deals in other positions have been fast-tracked.

As football.london reported in May, Arteta wanted to sign a striker, wide forward, defender and back-up goalkeeper with the Arsenal boss also keen to have Zubimendi and Thomas Partey in his squad for next season.

Two of these aims appear to be met very soon with another also somewhat complete but in a very unexpected way. It started with Kepa Arrizabalaga's £5million Chelsea release clause being triggered and thus a medical taking place earlier this week.

A deal for Brentford's Christian Norgaard then moved at a rapid rate with the 31-year-old set to switch west for north London and £10million plus add-ons paid for his services. While not Partey, he is a very experienced midfielder to have alongside Zubimendi in the No.6 position.

Once those three transfers are made official, attention will surely switch onto two marquee signings in the frontline. However, it looks as though further defensive reinforcements are on the agenda first with talks advancing for Valencia centre-back Cristhian Mosquera.

The Spanish club are demanding £17million (€20m) to sell with Arsenal more than capable of hitting that figure. If they opt to proceed imminently, all of Kepa, Norgaard and Mosquera could see their respective arrivals announced before Tuesday, July 1.

With the players to help squad depth acquired, the remaining two months of the transfer window can be spent on bringing in a winger and natural centre-forward.

Rodrygo and Benjamin Sesko are the most likely additions but Viktor Gyokeres and Rafael Leao are alternatives. Ollie Watkins and Ademola Lookman are further down the shortlist but discussions have certainly been held for both.
