Norchad Omier signs deal with Cavaliers

JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) - A Red Wolf great earns an NBA opportunity.

8 Deportivo in Nicaragua was first to report that Norchad Omier signed a deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers. He finished a collegiate career at Baylor that started at Arkansas State.

The Nicaragua native was the 2021 Sun Belt Freshman of the Year, the 2022 Sun Belt Player of the Year, and the 2022 Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Year. He played in 52 games for A-State, averaging 15 points and 12 rebounds.

Omier transferred to Miami, playing in the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons. He averaged 13 points and 10 rebounds as the Hurricanes reached the 2023 Final Four.

Omier suited up for Baylor in his final season of eligibility. He averaged 15 points and 10 rebounds in the 2024-25 season. The Bear landed on the 2025 All Big-12 First Team.

The NBA Summer League starts July 10th in Las Vegas.
