Arsenal are set to intensify their pursuit of Valencia’s highly-rated centre-back Cristhian Mosquera with a second bid worth €20 million and a six-year contract offer, according to Marca.

The Gunners are determined to bolster their defensive options ahead of the 2025/26 Premier League season and view the 20-year-old Spanish U21 international as a key target. Mosquera, a graduate of Valencia’s youth academy, enjoyed a breakthrough campaign last season, making 30 appearances and earning praise for his composure, physical presence, and tactical intelligence.

Arsenal’s initial offer for the young defender was rejected by Valencia, who are reluctant to lose one of their brightest prospects. However, the North London club remains undeterred and is now preparing a renewed approach in hopes of reaching an agreement.

The six-year deal being proposed reflects Arsenal’s long-term commitment to Mosquera, who is seen as a potential future leader in Mikel Arteta’s evolving squad. With William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhães already forming a strong central defensive pairing, Mosquera would add depth, versatility, and a succession plan at the heart of defence.

Valencia are expected to stand firm, as Mosquera’s current contract runs until 2027 and includes a release clause reportedly far above Arsenal’s current bid. Nonetheless, the Spanish club’s financial situation may influence their willingness to negotiate, with a fee in the region of €25–30 million likely needed to open serious discussions.

Arteta and newly appointed sporting director Andrea Berta have placed an emphasis on recruiting young, adaptable talent capable of growing within the club’s system. Mosquera, who is comfortable playing in both a back four and a back three, fits that mold perfectly and would enhance the tactical flexibility of Arsenal’s backline.

The Gunners remain active in the transfer market as they seek to strengthen key areas of the squad for another push at the Premier League title and a deeper run in the Champions League.
