LAWRENCE, Kan. (KCTV) - After going undrafted, Kansas center Hunter Dickinson is getting a shot in the NBA.
Dickinson, a 7-foot-2 center who played two seasons with the Jayhawks, agreed to a two-way deal with the New Orleans Pelicans following the conclusion of the 2025 NBA Draft. The deal was first reported by ESPN’s Shams Charania and was confirmed by Dickinson.
The Alexandria, Virginia, native went undrafted after being named a two-time consensus All-American and a two-time All-Big 12 selection.
During his final season with the Jayhawks, he averaged 17.4 points and 10.0 rebounds in 34 games.
In May, Dickinson leaned into jokes from fans about getting a job after spending five seasons -- three at Michigan and two at Kansas -- playing college basketball. The former Jayhawk partnered with LinkedIn for a commercial.
Now, he can update his profile as a member of the Pelicans organization. He’ll likely split time between New Orleans and their G-League affiliate, the Birmingham Squadron.
His agreement with the Pelicans comes with general manager Joe Dumars taking control of the franchise’s basketball decision-making. Dickinson wasn’t the only Pelicans addition from the DMV area after the Pelicans traded up in the first round to select Maryland forward and Baltimore native Derik Queen 13th overall.
