Aston Villa brand Arsenal target not for sale

Any Arsenal bid for Morgan Rogers is likely to fail, with Aston Villa taking the stance that the player is not for sale this summer.

Tom Collomosse reports for the Daily Mail that Aston Villa’s stance on Morgan Rogers is a clear one – he’s not for sale.

Collomosse admits that no player is ever completely off the market, but it’s unlikely anyone would be in for the player at the sort of prices Villa would consider. They believe he’s worth just as much as Jack Grealish was when he joined Manchester City for £100m.

The report adds that Arsenal admire Rogers and the player is keen to play Champions League football, but he’s also happy at Villa and a transfer evidently isn’t expected this summer.

Gary Jacobs had recently reported for The Times that Rogers was on Arsenal’s shortlist, as a player who would fill multiple positions of need for the Gunners.

But Jacobs admitted at the time that Arsenal would need to offer a significant transfer fee for Villa to even consider it.

Given Rogers has since been named in the PFA’s Young Player of the Year award shortlist, alongside Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly, Villa’s not-for-sale stance is unsurprising.

Arsenal appear to have plenty of other names on their shortlist of wingers this summer, including Real Madrid’s Rodrygo and Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze. It looks like they’ll need to turn to those alternatives now.
