The blockbuster £45m forward transfer Aston Villa can now complete as Premier League rivals…

Manchester United are offering a huge discount on one of Aston Villa’s main transfer targets.

Aston Villa have reportedly been told by one of their Premier League rivals that a priority transfer target’s asking price has been slashed to push through a sale.

The Villans are eager to sign a new left winger this summer as Marcus Rashford, who signed on a five-month loan from Manchester United back in February, is not expected to join permanently. Villa had the opportunity to sign Rashford for £40 million but the England international wants to play in the Champions League, and he failed to lower his eye-watering wage demands.

Villa have been tipped to stay with Man United in their transfer search as another left winger, Alejandro Garnacho, is available this summer. The Villans have already been credited with an interest in the Argentina international but the Red Devils’ £60 million asking price appeared to be too significant.

Man Utd offer huge winger discount

That price tag may not exist any longer, however, as a report from the Daily Star suggests Man Utd are furious with Garnacho due to recent behavioural issues. It’s claimed the Red Devils have slashed their asking price by 25 per cent, listing him on the market for £45 million.

Albeit still a lot of money for Villa to cough up due to their concerns surrounding the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules (PSR), that figure sounds far friendlier than the one previously quoted. Garnacho wants to leave Old Trafford and United have already told him he needs to find a new club, so there’s never been a better opening.

One of Unai Emery’s specialities is helping troubled players say farewell to poor conduct. Although wild former striker Jhon Duran was never to be fully tamed, Emery did a good job to push the Colombian in the right direction before his stunning £67 million transfer to Al-Nassr. He could perform similar magic with Garnacho.

Garnacho hints at transfer in social media post

A transfer away for Garnacho has felt like an inevitability for a long while but even more so now that the winger has made a rather contentious social media post. As he’s in a situation comparable to Marcus Rashford’s having been benched and outcast by Ruben Amorim, the 20-year-old took to Instagram on Monday, posting a photo of him wearing a Villa shirt with Rashford’s name on the back.

This has caused an uproar among United fans, while Villans have taken it as a huge hint that he could be in favour of a move to B6. Although Garnacho hasn’t explained why he was wearing the Rashford shirt, it was likely to show his support for his teammate while expressing his frustrations at his own similar predicament.

Several other United players have been spotted in other teams’ shirts but the context is important. Amad Diallo, for instance, was photographed in a Brighton & Hove Albion kit recently but that was understandable as his international teammate Simon Adingra’s name was printed. In the case of Garnacho, it feels like a back-stabbing jibe at United.
