Report: Sheffield Wednesday managerial plan could be torn up as Premier League side Brentford eye ideal Owls man

Sheffield Wednesday could suffer a blow in their pursuit of appointing Danny Rohl’s successor.

Danny Rohl’s tenure at Sheffield Wednesday is coming to an end, with Dejphon Chansiri willing to compromise on letting the German go.

Whilst such a decision should have been made sooner, Sheffield Wednesday will benefit from making a swift appointment of Rohl’s successor early on in pre-season.

One option that Chansiri could turn to is Sheffield Wednesday assistant Henrik Pedersen, who would be considered a sound appointment amongst the current players and staff.

However, such an appointment may now be quite difficult as one Premier League side looks to make a move for Pedersen ahead of the 2025/26 season.

Sheffield Wednesday could lose out on Henrik Pedersen as Brentford eye new assistant coach

Sheffield Wednesday will have to face competition from Premier League outfit Brentford this summer if they wish to appoint Henrik Pedersen, as, per a report by The Star, the Bees are keen to bring the Dane in as part of new boss Keith Andrews’ coaching set-up.

Pedersen also has interest from abroad, with Aalborg notably sounding him out as an option to become their new head coach.

The Owls will be hoping that Pedersen’s love for Sheffield and South Yorkshire could play a part in his decision, as well as the prospect of becoming head coach.

Dejphon Chansiri must make an imminent Henrik Pedersen decision

Whether Sheffield Wednesday do try their best to bring in Pedersen, or alternatively look elsewhere, such a decision needs to be made swiftly to ensure that pre-season is not affected by the managerial merry-go-round.

Pedersen is understandably the top option for Chansiri to appoint because of his familiarity with the squad, which would make it a smooth transition to bring him into the role, but extra assurances may need to be made about his future to deter Premier League interest.

It is an incredibly difficult task right now for Sheffield Wednesday to compete financially with anyone, let alone Premier League Brentford, and such a decision may simply come down to whether Pedersen fancies the Premier League or leading his own side.

At this moment, no other names have been linked with the top job at Sheffield Wednesday, so it looks as though it could be make-or-break for Chansiri to complete a deal for Pedersen as Rohl’s replacement.
