Bryan Mbeumo looks increasingly likely to depart Brentford this summer, with top Premier League sides circling after his standout season.

The 25-year-old finished the league campaign with 20 goals and seven assists in 38 appearances, showcasing his quality and composure in front of goal.

Mbeumo has long been seen as one of Brentford’s most reliable attacking threats.

With just a year left on his deal (plus an optional extension), the timing for a move feels right.

Among Manchester United’s leading pursuit, Tottenham Hotspur appeared as serious contenders following the appointment of Thomas Frank.

The Dane got the best out of Mbeumo during their time together in west London.

However, David Ornstein’s report for The Athletic states there has now been a major shift.

Spurs have not submitted any bid for the forward and are no longer pursuing a deal.

This follows Mbeumo’s decision to inform both Brentford and Thomas Frank that, should he leave this summer, it would be for Manchester United.

The Red Devils have held long-standing interest in the Cameroon international and are understood to be a far more attractive option to the player.

United’s new era under INEOS and manager Ruben Amorim has Mbeumo intrigued.

Especially with a clear plan to overhaul the attacking line.

Matheus Cunha has already joined from Wolves in a £62.5m deal.

Further displaying Red Devils’ intent to fix their struggles, rather than a passive approach.

Arsenal and Newcastle meanwhile, have also monitored Mbeumo’s situation as per Ornstein’s report.

However, United’s intent and Mbeumo’s preference may leave rivals with little room to manoeuvre.

For now, Brentford remain in a strong negotiating position.

Although, the path to Old Trafford appears to be opening.
