LOS ANGELES, CA — A cornerback for the San Francisco 49ers was arrested Thursday night in Los Angeles and charged with obstruction of justice, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Deommodore Lenoir, 25, a Los Angeles native, was released from jail early Friday morning after officers said they approached a group that included Lenoir in the area of West Vernon Avenue and South Wilton Place in South Los Angeles and saw a gun in a parked vehicle.
Police said they asked for the keys to the car and one person in the group threw them to Lenoir, who tossed the keys to a third person who attempted to hide them.
The 49ers have not released a statement on the matter.
Lenoir is entering his fifth year in the NFL and signed a five-year, $92 million contract extension in November with the 49ers.
The San Francisco 49ers selected Lenoir in the fifth round of the 2021 NFL draft. He has recorded six interceptions, 26 passes defended and 265 tackles while playing for San Francisco.
