Leeds United could complete £12M deal for long-term target – club could sell

Leeds United are moving much differently than the fans expected. During the title celebrations last month, club Chairman Paraag Marathe addressed the team and the fans.

He vowed that the ownership will provide the resources so that Leeds can ”spend” this summer. Though financial experts have rumoured that the Whites’ transfer budget could be in excess of £100million, the signings have been much different.

So far, there have been two arrivals at Elland Road. Lukas Nmecha joined on a free transfer from Wolfsburg, and Leeds managed to negotiate a deal for Jaka Bijol. One of the best defenders in Serie A last season, and a regular Slovenian international moved to West Yorkshire for just above £15million per reports.

So far, two ‘smart’ signings have been made in key areas of the team. The Whites are also building squad depth ahead of the Premier League.

And according to Football Insider, Leeds could move for Angers midfielder Himad Abdelli as their third signing. The report claims that the Whites are preparing a deal for the midfielder, who could cost around £12million. Abdelli has one year left on his deal, which explains the transfer tag.

The 26-year old was undecided about his future when the question came up last month:

“We’ll see with the president if there are any requests that suit us both. For now, I’m under contract with the SCO, I don’t feel like leaving, I really like this club and I’m attached to it!”

Abdelli could be another smart signing

Leeds could be getting one of Ligue 1’s most underrated attacking midfielders. Angers are a very defensive team, so Abdelli picks up the creative load for his side.

His output is decent for a team that regularly fights in the bottom half of the league. Leeds could get a midfielder who can pass, dribble and create for just £12million.
