Manchester United are still on the hunt for a midfielder this summer as part of the club’s whole squad overhaul to set up Ruben Amorim for his first full season in charge.
Whilst United have signed Matheus Cunha and are closing in on Bryan Mbeumo, The Red Devils still have a shopping list consisting of a striker, a midfielder, a wing-back and a goalkeeper.
As such, the club have been scouring Europe for potential candidates including Borussia Dortmund’s Felix Nmecha, and Atalanta’s Ederson.

However, another candidate who joined the list is Bayern Munich’s Joao Palhinha.
The 29-year-old has been at Bayern for a year now after moving from Fulham for £42.3 million, however has struggled to cement himself as a regular for the Bundesliga side with only 17 league appearances.
As such, the German giants are reportedly wanting to offload the midfielder after only one season, accepting they’re unlikely to recoup the fee they paid for him.
It’s understood that the German side would be open to offers of around £25.6 million to £29.9 million, however United were looking to the Portugal international on a loan deal.

Now, Christian Falk has reported through CaughtOffside that Palhinha is rejecting the idea of leaving Bayern.
The Bundesliga journalist commented: “There are also no developments regarding João Palhinha,”
He continued: “The player is still keen to establish himself at FC Bayern and is currently not interested in returning to Fulham.”
With his statement of Joao Palhinha wanting to continue attempting to establish himself in the Bayern squad, it’s a clear suggestion that any move, loan or permanent is off the table for the 29-year-old.
