Despite boosting squad depth in two key areas, there is one part of the pitch Leeds United will need to address. Next week will be key for the club.
Pre-season preparations will be underway, and most importantly, contracts will come to an end. Leeds have two players who could have their deals expire in the next few days. Sam Byram and Junior Firpo held talks with the club, but nothing has yet to happen.

If the duo leave the club, then the Whites would have just two first team fullbacks available for their pre season tour.

With how Daniel Farke prioritized his fullbacks in his attacking system last season, losing Junior Firpo would be a huge blow. But reports suggest that some targets have been lined up. Lille star Gabriel Gudmundsson has been under observation for a while.
And now, according to German media, two more targets could be on the radar. BILD report that Gladbach duo Luca Netz and Lukas Ullrich could leave this summer:
“It cannot be ruled out that Gladbach may even end up losing both left-backs as a result: Netz, because he no longer believes in his prospects in the Bundesliga, and Ullrich, because Gladbach can no longer turn down offers from England once they reach a certain size.”
Ullrich has been watched by Leeds this year, and Netz has also been linked in the last few months.
Ullrich or Netz for Leeds?
The two players are both very good options, and the competition has been evident this season. Ullrich has been the main starter, with Netz as the backup.

And the statistics show how good Netz has been in limited minutes. However, Ullrich comes with more experience, and is the cheaper option. He would need some adapting to fit in the team, but Daniel Farke can work with what he brings to the club.
