Man Utd preparing to submit offer to sign€50m star, Red Devils"don't give up"- report

Manchester United could pursue a new goalkeeper during the summer transfer window.

The Red Devils had a disappointing 2024/25 campaign in the Premier League. They finished a lowly 15th in the table with 42 points to their name.

Manager Ruben Amorim will expect a significant improvement next season, and journalist Alfredo Pedulla claims that United could sign a new goalkeeper.

The journalist adds that the Red Devils ‘don’t give up’ on Atalanta star Marco Carnesecchi, and he is becoming an ‘increasingly concrete target’.

The club are ‘ready to present’ an offer worth €40 million for the Italy international.

Atalanta reportedly value him at €45-50 million, but Pedulla reports that United could reach that valuation by including performance-based bonuses.

Carnesecchi speculation could be agent-driven

The 24-year-old had a solid 2024/25 campaign with Atalanta. He made almost 100 saves in Serie A, with a save success rate of 74 percent.

The Italian had a passing accuracy of 70 percent with almost five long balls. He kept an impressive 13 clean sheets, which was the fifth-best in the division.

Carnesecchi did not make a single error leading to goal. In comparison, Andre Onana made five errors leading to goals last term, three of those in the league.

Despite his good attributes, we are not convinced United will make such a huge outlay on another goalkeeper unless they can recoup funds from Onana’s departure.

Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez has been reported as a top target since the turn of the year, but the Argentine is also aware that a move depends on Onana departing.

As things stand, there are no lucrative bids on the table for the Cameroon international.

In our view, the Carnesecchi speculation could be agent-driven rather than United considering an offer.

The club are poised to sign Bryan Mbeumo after Matheus Cunha. Their next priority could be a striker, but that could partly depend on recouping funds from player sales.

United would also be better off landing a quality defensive midfielder who can shield the backline rather than spending a large sum on a new shot-stopper for next season.

Casemiro is no longer in his prime and has struggled to cope with the league’s intensity. Manuel Ugarte has also been inconsistent since his move from Paris Saint-Germain.

There is room for a new holding midfielder to establish himself as a regular starter at United.
