TJ Bamba signs with Brooklyn Nets ahead of NBA Summer League

Oregon basketball guard TJ Bamba has landed on an NBA roster ahead of summer basketball. Bamba has confirmed that he will be playing for the Brooklyn Nets summer league team, a deal that was first reported by ESPN's Jon Chepkevich.

Bamba was a critical piece to Oregon's team that made the NCAA Tournament this past season and won its first-round game. The 6-foot-5 guard averaged 10.5 points per game, while also averaging 3.0 assists and 1.8 steals per game. Bamba was an elite on-ball and off-ball defender on the other end of the floor, earning All-Big Ten Defense honors and was a finalist for the Lefty Diresell Award, given out each season to the top defensive player at the D1 level.

Bamba will get a chance to try and stick on an NBA roster for this upcoming season, or make a big enough impression to find his way into the NBA's developmental league in the G League. To do it, Bamba will need to regain his shooting from and show he can be a two-way threat as a three-and-D prospect that hits the open three-pointers and a reliable defender.

Bamba played one season of college basketball at Oregon. Prior to the Ducks, he signed with Washington State out of high school and played three seasons there. During his senior season, he played at Villanova before he arrived at Oregon for his super-senior season.

The Oregon men's basketball team currently has a handful of players in the league at this time: Bol Bol, Chris Boucher, Dillon Brooks, N'Faly Dante, and Payton Pritchard. Dante will likely play in the NBA Summer League this coming July, and former Ducks like Will Richardson, Troy Brown Jr, Tyler Dorsey, Chris Duarte, Louis King, and others could also make it on an NBA Summer League roster.

Other Oregon seniors from last year's roster like Brandon Angel could also make an NBA Summer League Roster this year. We'll update this story as more information becomes available.

The 2025 NBA Summer League season will run in Las Vegas July 10th through the 20th.
