San Francisco 49ers player Deommodore Lenoir was arrested in Los Angeles on June 26 and later charged with obstruction of justice. The NFL cornerback was approached by the Los Angeles Police Department around 5:30 p.m. on Thursday evening.

Lenoir and a group of men, including one Marcus Cunningham, were apparently blocking traffic with their double parked cars, according to the LAPD. Officers on the scene reportedly noticed a firearm in Cunningham's parked car which led to a further altercation.

Police proceeded to ask the men for their keys. The group instead began to pass them amongst each other and attempted to hide the keys from the police. Their alleged refusal to hand over the keys led to the defensive NFL star's arrest. Cunningham was arrested as well for possession of a concealed firearm in a vehicle.

Lenoir was released from the 77th Street Division Police Department at 1:18 a.m. on Friday morning. He now faces a misdemeanor obstruction of justice charge and will appear back in Los Angeles Superior Court on July 25.

Lenoir's court date comes just three days after the veteran 49ers are due back for the beginning of training camp for the upcoming NFL season. This will be his fifth season on the San Francisco football team.

The 49ers have not released an official statement regarding the arrest of their player. Lenoir has become a defensive star and key player for the 49ers since being drafted in 2021. Last season, he signed a new five-year extension with the team for $92 million.
