Man United’s latest bid for Premier League forward rejected

This summer will be an important one for Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim, as he attempts to turn his side’s fortunes around.

Last term the Red Devils endured a disastrous campaign and ultimately finished 15th in the Premier League table, meaning they won’t compete in any form of European competition next season.

The Portuguese may have only taken charge of United in November, but he is already under pressure to improve his side on the pitch after a disastrous first six months in charge.

United have already completed the signing of forward Matheus Cunha from Wolves, but it appears that they are struggling in their pursuit of another Premier League star.

According to BBC Sport, United’s latest offer for Bryan Mbeumo has been rejected by Brentford.

The 25-year-old was in sensational form for the Bees last term, netting 20 goals in the Premier League as Thomas Frank’s side impressed.

His form hasn’t gone unnoticed, though, and United have now had at least two offers for the player rejected by his current employers.

Brentford’s decision to recent the £62.5 million bid comes despite the Cameroon international having just over 12 months remaining on his current contract.

Earlier this month United had an offer of £55 million – comprised of an initial £45 million and further £10 million in potential add-ons – rejected by the West London outfit.

The Red Devils’ latest offer is said to have consisted of an initial sum of £55 million plus £7.5 million in add-ons, but the Bees have once again rejected the bid.

United could face competition from Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign Mbeumo, with new Spurs boss Frank likely to want to reunite with the forward.

Mbeumo joined Brentford from French side Troyes in 2019 and has since played 242 times for the club across all competitions, scoring 70 goals and registering 51 assists.
