Mavericks’ Cooper Flagg Puts Caitlin Clark on His WNBA Mt. Rushmore

Cooper Flagg is one of the most highly touted No. 1 picks in the NBA draft in many years. The Dallas Mavericks selected the 18-year-old after spending one season with the Duke Blue Devils and being named the National College Player of the Year.

During his introductory press conference with the Mavericks, Flagg spoke about several topics, but one interesting question was about his Mt. Rushmore for the NBA and WNBA.

After naming Larry Bird, Michael Jordan, LeBron James and Kobe Bryant on his NBA Mt. Rushmore, he turned heads with the final name added to his WNBA list-Caitlin Clark.

After first naming Candace Parker, Brittney Griner and A'ja Wilson, Flagg thought momentarily and then said he might add Clark as the fourth, and explained his reasoning.

"I might put Caitlin Clark on there just because she's changed the game so much and is heading in the right direction," Flagg said. "And I just love what she's been able to do."

Like many fans, Flagg appears to be entirely on the Clark bandwagon, and it's easy to understand why. Clark has quickly become the most popular player not only in the WNBA but in professional basketball as a whole.

Flagg earned several awards for his lone collegiate season at Duke. Along with being named National Player of the Year, he also received the Lute Olson Award, Julius Erving Award, Wayman Tisdale Award and was named NABC Freshman of the Year and ACC Player of the Year.

Over 37 games played, Flagg averaged 19.2 points, 7.5 rebounds and 4.2 assists while shooting 48.1 percent from the field and 38.5 percent from three-point range.
