Barcelona midfielder [Pedri is one of several names](https://www.barcablaugranes.com/2025/5/26/24437123/pedri-reveals-his-perfect-match-of-barcelonas-season-after-winning-la-liga-and-the-copa-del-rey) being tipped to be in contention for the 2025 Ballon d’Or after a brilliant season with Barcelona.
Lamine Yamal and Raphinha are also in the running, but Pedri’s dad says it’s not something the family are thinking about.
> ”We’re not even considering it,” he told Radio Marca Tenerife.
>
> “We just want him to stay injury-free, to stay well, to win everything he can as a team, and then the individual awards, if they have to come, will come.”
Pedri has managed to put his injury problems behind him to emerge as a crucial player for Hansi Flick, but his dad says he still can’t quite believe he plays for Barcelona.
> “What Pedri did can’t be explained in words. At first, you pinch yourself because you don’t believe it. I remember meeting up with my brother and saying, ‘Can you imagine him achieving this?’ And finally, seeing him do it... it’s very exciting,” he added.
>
> “I remember meeting with his representatives. We knew there were teams interested, but we didn’t know Barcelona was one of them. When it was confirmed, they called me and said, ‘Sit down wherever you can,’ and then they told me it was Barça.
>
> “He’s doing very well now; the injuries are over, his mind is free. He looks very happy, even his face has changed.”
Barcelona will hope that Pedri can simply pick up where he left off when he returns to action next month and also add more trophies to his collection with the Catalans.
